Bon Ton store at Delaware/Sheridan
The escalator leading to the basement of the former AM&As department store at Delaware and Sheridan, now Bon Ton. It is blocked off to the public and is dark. Maybe used for storage? Does anyone remember riding this escalator?
On this day in 1837 future Buffalo mayor Solomon Haven became a partner in the law firm Fillmore & Hall, now becoming Fillmore, Hall & Haven. Fillmore being Millard Fillmore.
On January 9, 1883 a special election was held to fill the office of mayor that was vacated the previous fall by Grover Cleveland after he was elected governor of New York. John Baker Manning decidedly won the election over Common Council President Robert Hefford. The majority was actually larger than Cleveland had received the previous year.
